Presidents' Term 2 Address
Dear all,
On behalf of the CrimSoc Team, I would like to welcome everyone back to Term 2 of 2020. I hope that everyone has been staying safe and healthy during the break and have gotten some time to relax and get ready for a fresh start to Term 2.
As expressed earlier on our Facebook post published on the 3rd of June, the UNSWCriminology Society supports the #BlackLivesMatter and #AboriginalLivesMatter movements and stands in solidarity with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of our nation as well as people across the world in the fight to end systemic racism and discriminatory practices. Our complete statement can be found here.
On this occasion, we would also like to officially thank the UNSW CriminologyFaculty for standing with us on the issue of #BlackLivesMatter and #AboriginalLivesMatter. We feel very grateful and privileged to have such a wonderful group of staff members supporting us. It makes us much confident as student advocates to raise our voices for what we believe in.
In terms of online learning, UNSW CrimSoc is aware of the difficulties students may be experiencing as a result of the transition from face-to-face to remote learning and in response, we have created a new website where students will be able to find a range of resources that may help them with their degree and studies. The new website will also provide you with everything you will need to know about our society, executive team, our purpose and activities. Through this website, we are also hoping to reach out to all who holds an interest in criminology, and ensure that everyone has equal access to information and resources about UNSW CrimSoc and criminology regardless of whether they own a social media platform. The website will be launched officially on Monday next week.
UNSW CrimSoc understands the time we are going through as a time for change, in many aspects. To stay prepared and proactive amid these swiftly changing times, we understand that communication plays an important role. Therefore, we encourage any feedback and input from our members, staff and members of the public that may help us improve and better support our members. Please feel free to email us at unswcrimsoc@gmail.com regarding any suggestions, feedback, concerns and issues you may have.
Finally, as the effects of the COVID-19 still persists, please remember to continue taking precautionary measures for the protection of your own health and the health of others around you.
Warmest Regards,
Helen Li
UNSW CrimSoc President
Presidents' Address Re: COVID-19
Dear all CrimSoc members,
We are aware that many of you are experiencing major changes in not only your university life but normal, everyday life as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, On behalf of the whole CrimSoc Team, I would like to express my solidarity with all students and staff and believe that we will be able to overcome this difficult situation together.
In response to the COVID-19, CrimSoc has decided to move all of its events online to practice social distancing so as to combat the virus. However, this does not equate to less entertainment and knowledge delivery!
Our events teams are working their hardest to devise ways to deliver social and educational events online to you all! So, be sure to stay updated with us via our website and Facebook page.
Finally, I am pleased to announce the launch of our new website. This website will provide you with everything you will need to know about our society, executive team, our purpose and activities. Through this website, we are hoping to reach out to all who holds an interest in criminology, and ensure that everyone has equal access to information and resources about CrimSoc and criminology regardless of whether they own a social media platform.
