With the UNSW trimester system in place, it can be difficult for some students to keep up with the immense course load. CrimSoc Peer Mentoring Program is an initiative that aims to connect more experienced Criminology students with first and second year Criminology students to support them with their studies.

Some of the past courses our mentors have provided support for include:

  • CRIM1010

  • CRIM1011

  • CRIM2020

  • CRIM2021

  • CRIM2042

  • SOSS1000

  • SOSS1001

  • SOSS2001

  • PSYC1027

Become a Mentor

Psychological research found that when one explains study material to another, it reinforces their own understanding of the content ('The Protégé Effect'). As such, by becoming a Mentor, not only does will your Mentee benefit from your teaching, you can also enhance your own criminological learning.

If you are interested in a flexible, volunteering-based program that aims to help younger students navigating through coursework,  or if you are interested in putting your criminological knowledge into practice, then apply to be a Mentor.

This initiative requires approximately one to two hours of your time per week.

Intakes are based on the UNSW trimester system and the application for Mentors commences near the start of each term, every term. You can keep updated about these deadlines by following our social media accounts.

2021 Term 1 Intake Status: Open

Application Start Date: 1 February 2021

Application End Date: TBA
