Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) is a division of the NSW Government Department of Communities and Justice. CSNSW is responsible for operating the state's correctional centres, supervising offenders in the community, and delivering programs that aim to reduce reoffending, support reintegration and build safer communities.
About the role
CSNSW is currently recruiting suitably skilled candidates to join their team as Community Corrections Officers. Community Corrections officers are trained to provide case management for offenders being supervised on community-based orders such as Parole Orders, Intensive Corrections Orders, and Community Corrections Orders. Ultimately, this role involves working with offenders in the community and/or correctional centres as well as offenders in custody to prepare for their release into the community on parole.
Work type: Full-time, permanent employment
Hours: 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, flex time.
Job locations: Sydney region/ Sydney City (namely City, Sutherland, Leichhardt, St Leonards Community Corrections and Long Bay (Malabar) Parole Unit)
Total Remuneration Package: Salary from $85,744 pa plus superannuation. Additionally, successful candidates will be given paid training with a Certificate IV in Correctional Practice.
Essential requirements: Candidates must pass pre-employment checks that include a National criminal history check including, fingerprint checks; Contact with offender check; Conduct and performance/Service check; and Reference checks.
Important: It is an essential requirement of the role that successful applicants have their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by 25 October 2021 and their second dose by 17 January 2022.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
Communication and engagement skills; as well as skills transferable to case management
Experience writing concisely and in plain English within formal documents
Ability to work in a challenging environment and apply cultural sensitivity
Commitment to growing Aboriginal cultural competence
Ability to work in a team or independently
Excellent time management skills
A current valid driver's licence.
